Original title: Trudeau panders to Islamists, again
Remember last year when Justin Trudeau addressed a gender-segregated gathering of Islamists in downtown Toronto? An event that was sponsored by IRFAN-Canada, a group that Canada Revenue Agency said "is an integral part of an international fundraising effort to support Hamas"?
Well, now as leader of the Liberal Party, Justin Trudeau has done it again. This time he has graced with his presence the Islamist group Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) whose parent organisation in the United States has been listed by the U.S. Justice Department as an "Unindicted Co-Conspirator" in a terror funding trial.
Although ISNA was never charged with any crime, U.S. government prosecutors listed it as one of the "entities who are and/or were members of the U.S. Muslim Brotherhood."
None of this seems to have been a concern for Trudeau who spent an evening at ISNA's Islamic Centre last week to break fast with the congregation during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
Lost to Trudeau was the fact, ISNA was an active promoter of Sharia in Ontario's Family Law Courts during the 2004-2005 debate. The fact representatives of ISNA have defended polygamy and refused to renounce the doctrine of armed jihad or the agenda of the Muslim Brotherhood in Canada, was of no consequence.
Trudeau's visit to the controversial Islamic Centre would have passed unnoticed had it not been for another Muslim group that was upset at him for endorsing conservative Islamists while ignoring liberal Muslims. In a statement, the secular Muslim Canadian Congress (MCC) slammed Trudeau, saying they "are deeply disappointed that Justin Trudeau continues to appease known Islamist organizations."
MCC President Mumtaz Khan "urged Canadian leaders to exercise due diligence before they lend credibility to Islamist groups who are known to have links with Saudi institutions." He was alluding to the fact ISNA has received funds from Saudi sources in the past. Khan cautioned Canadian politicians to stop "chasing vote banks while being blind to who they validate," terming such a tactic as "a very risky path for Canadian politicians to take."
ISNA Canada's reliance on Saudi funding sources was reported by the Globe and Mail in November 2005 when it revealed, the late King Fahd had given $5-million (U.S.) and an annual grant of $1.5-million to the ISNA's Islamic Centre in Toronto.
And even if one were to give Trudeau and his advisors the benefit of doubt that they did not know of ISNA's "unindicted co-conspirator"status in the U.S. or that it is funded by Saudi money, how could they have missed the recent news about ISNA's internal financial scandals?
In January 2011 a Toronto Star report on ISNA was headlined: "Muslim charity squandered money for poor."
It was reported that ISNA had "been paying its office costs and personal expenses with the money devout members donated to help the poor and needy."
Certainly someone in Trudeau's staff must have read that an audit of ISNA Canada revealed: "Mismanagement of more than $600,000 ... the practice of giving free perks to family members of a top official; the improper issuing of charitable tax receipts; and the diversion of charity money to private businesses."
Of the one million Muslims in Canada and the hundreds of community centres across the country, Justin Trudeau managed to choose a group listed as an "unindicted co-conspirator"in a terror funding trial, a group that receives money from Saudi Arabia, backs polygamy and sharia, and one that is involved in an internal financial scandal.
And he expects us Canadians to trust him as our prime minister? No sir, not until you grow a spine and stand up for our values with pride.
