Dr. Kadi is the general coordinator of the Syrian Economic Task Force (SETF), coordinator of Basket 3: economic Policies and Reforms, head of Syrian delegation in Friends of Syrian people for Economic Recovery and Development
Dr. Osama Kadi is an economic consultant and the president of Syrian Canadian Council SCC that has five chapters of Windsor, London, Mississauga/Toronto, Ottawa, and Montreal. And he is the founder and president of Syrian Center for Political and Strategic Studies SCPSS – non-profit organization registered in US- in Washington DC.
Dr. Kadi, is a president of Concordia College of Canada for health, Business and technology
Dr. Kadi, is a member of Syrian National CouncilSNC-Turkey, and the executive director of finance and economic affairs at Syrian national council. He attended most of Syrian opposition conferences and he was preparation committee of SNC, and head of organizational committee in Syrian Salvation Conference in Turkey. His latest book right before revolution in 2011 titled: Syrian industry and the Executive complexity (Arabic and English)
Dr. Kadi worked in Syria as Economic consultant with the Syrian Agency of Combating Unemployment ACU and wrote Impact Assessment of ACU and how to deal with Syrian Unemployment, and then he worked as Economic Consultant with United Nations Development Program UNDP in Syria to write a future study about Syrian Development Trajectories 2025. He writes in Al-Arab newspaper in Qatar, and appears regularly on BBC, RCI-CBS, TV Barada-UK, and others.
Dr. Kadi served as an adjunct professor for undergraduate students teaching macroeconomics and microeconomics at the Dearborn campuses of Davenport University and the University of Michigan. At Davenport, he works with the Corporate Services Department, and at the University of Michigan, for the Social Science-Economics Department. He taught also, economics and business management for Baker College at Allen Park campus.
In both academic and creative pursuits, Dr. Kadi has been recognized by a number of awards and citations. Dr. Kadi won third prize in the Suaad Al-Sabah Science Invention competition in Kuwait in 1994.
Author of distinguished tens of articles and papers on the subjects of economics and politics, Dr. Kadi has been published in professional journals and has presented papers in the United States and abroad. In 1996, he was co-author and editor of The Anticipated Role of Islam,in Syria, and in 2001, he was the cp-author and editor of Dialogue and Democracy in the Middle East published in Lebanon.
In 1998, he was co-author and editor of For Better Morality in the Next Century, published in Syria. That year, Dr. Kadi presented a paper on “Peace Economic summits: from Casablanca to Doha, The Economic Consequences” at the International Economic Conference on New Developments and Their Impact in Arab Economics in Tunis. His latest book in Arabic was: “The International Economic Crisis” by Dar Al-fikr 2010, and he presented his latest paper at International Society for Third-Sector Research ISTR conference in Turkey July 2010; titled: “Research as a Tool to Improve the Effectiveness of Community Based Organizations in the BMENA Region”, and presented paper at Foundation for the Future, the Regional Conference on “Research on Civil Society Organizations: Status and Prospects” titled: “Syrian Civil Society Organizations: Status and Literature Review”, 26-28 January 2010, Jordan, and he presented paper at “Asad’s Syria: Continuity and Change in the First ten years” at Arkansas University conference titled: “the Syrian Economy 2000-2010: What went Wrong?”, January 2011.
For Kuwait’s Social Sciences magazine, Vol. 23, No. 1, 1995, Dr. Kadi contributed his article, “Review of the Report of Development in the World 1992.” His paper, “Who Reaps the Benefits of Peace in the Middle East?” was presented at the MESA Conference held in October 1995 in Washington, DC.
Dr. Kadi presented a paper, “Economic Crisis of the Gulf War” at the International Conference of the Iraqi Aggression on the State of Kuwait, held April 2-6, 1994 in Kuwait, and sponsored by The Arabic Island and Gulf Studies, a quarterly magazine. Also in 1994, Dr. Kadi received the Dar Suaad Al Sabah Award for his paper, “Economic View in Baddih Al Sulk Fi Abaih Al-mulk, Ibn Al-Azrak.“
His article, “Arabic Debts and Import Inflation” appeared in Al-Wahda, Vol. 91, a monthly magazine published in 1991 in Morocco.
Activities and professional associations underscore Dr. Kadi’s interests in media, economics, and politics. He was the first Arab member of the Michigan Association of Broadcasters.
His memberships include: American Economic Association (AEA), Syrian Economic Science Association (SESA), Middle East Studies Association (MESA), Middle East Economic Association (MEEA), Middle East Institute (MEI), The Academy of Political Science (APS), Center for the Study of the Presidency in New York, Western Economic Association (California), International Executive Club (IEC), United Nations Association in Washington, DC, the American Sociological Association, also in Washington, DC, the American Association of University Professors )Washington, DC), and the Royal Economic Association (UK), The Canadian Association of Journalists.
In 2004, He was invited by the Syrian Expatriate Ministry as a speaker to present his paper titled: “Democracy as introduction to Economic Development in Syria”, and he was invited many times to deliver lectures about Syrian Economy by the Syrian American Congress in Chicago.
In his spare time, Dr. Kadi enjoys acting; he is co-founder president of Risala Theatrical Group RTG in Canada www.risala.ca. He has performed more than four plays in the States, and written and directed many stage plays in the United States and Canada. www.osamakadi.com
